These paintings are an exploration of the essential characteristics of time. Overlaying multiple images of a clock face destroys its meaning, but creates an impression of time-measurement archetypes. By separating numerals and clocks from their functional purposes, I begin to see the interior structure of digits, of intervals, and the mechanics of timekeeping. They represent the chaotic disintegration and ominous beauty of the year 2020, with its atmosphere of anxiety and unpredictability, and the nearly exhilarated dizziness that accompanies a profound loss of control.
